I had notification of an update of My Disney Experience app this morning. Upon reading the details of the update, it includes the much-publicized capability order food at quick service restaurants.
I opened the app after the update, and sure enough, there is a section to order food. Tapping that causes a notification to pop up that only Satu'Li Canteen at the new Pandora land will be the first to accept mobile food ordering when it opens on May 27, 2017. The restaurant is the only one so far listed for mobile ordering.
As someone who uses the Panera and Starbucks apps for mobile ordering frequently, I welcome this convenience and can't wait for it to expand to the counter service restaurants at WDW that I frequent.

The Premier of "Happily Ever After"
"Happily Ever After" debut at Magic Kingdom tonight, with live streaming being shown on Disney's YouTube Channel. This is the nighttime show that replaced "Wishes".
My verdict after viewing the live feed is that I did not have the same emotional reaction to it as I did with "Wishes". "Happily Ever After" may be technically more superior, and more complex, with lots of intricate fireworks. But it didn't grab me as "Wishes" did. The show is trying to do too much, and in the process, the story or theme that it is trying to convey becomes diffused. The message goes in all different directions, from being with "friends" to following one's dream, etc., and somehow this will lead to one's "happily ever after". It is weak! "Wishes", on the other hand, was very clear and consistent with that it was trying to convey throughout the entire show.
The over-reliance on the castle projection makes this even more difficult to follow and to get the full impact, because one has to actually be able to see the castle, and be close enough to make out what is being shown. This is basically a castle projection show with fireworks, rather than a fireworks show enhanced by the castle projection.
I don't know. Maybe I'll change my mind when I view this in person. But as of right now, this show looks awfully beautiful on the outside, but not much heart on the inside.

Final Wishes
Last night, May 11, 2017, was the final showing of Wishes at Magic Kingdom. We were lucky to have been able to view it one last time during our trip in late April.

Disney will debut Happily Ever After tonight, and there will be a live streaming of the event starting at 8:55 pm EDT.

Gondolas At Walt Disney World?
A delicious rumor has appeared regarding the building of a modern form of Skyway at Walt Disney World.
Wow. If this is true, then it would make for direct and fun connection between the two parks and those resorts without using the darn buses. Supposedly, these gondolas transport system are more robust and significantly less expensive to build than the monorail.
The only qualm that I have is what would happen in the event of a breakdown. Think of being stuck in one of these things, in 98-degree weather in the middle of summer in Orlando, without air conditioning. How will they hand such a scenario? It was bad enough already when it happened to the monorail, which at least is on a solid track. But dangling many feet of the ground while stuck in one of these?

Documents obtained by the Orlando Sentinel from the Disney-controlled Reedy Creek Improvement District confirm the resort has been planning the project, which has been rumored for months. Reedy Creek notes refer to six stations with three lines linking Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Caribbean Beach Resort and the lakeside area between Pop Century and the Art of Animation resorts. Each cab would hold 10 occupants.

Bob Iger To Stay For Another Year
This is not unexpected at all. Disney CEO Bob Iger has extended his contract for another year, till July 2019.
While this is good news for Disney and its shareholders, it also highlights the problem with succession to helm the company after the abrupt departure of leading candidate Tom Staggs last year. Can someone who knows how to run a large corporation such as Disney, AND also respects the Disney tradition and legacy can be found?
I don't know.
