Young Heart Recipient's Wish is Granted

What a wonderful story. Little Sierra Bingham and her family gets to go to Walt Disney World, and gets to do it with little Benjamin Thornton and his family. This is after they underwent the same ordeal of getting a heart transplant. All this thanks to Make A Wish Foundation.

Again, I'm highlighting stories like this whenever they appear just to remind ourselves how lucky some of us are to not only get to go to WDW regularly, but also to be in good health. And with the holiday seasons coming up, in case you don't have an organization in mind to receive your generosity, think of the Make A Wish Foundation.

I would also recommend looking at Give Kids The World. http://www.gktw.org

Give Kids The World is a non-profit resort where children with life-threatening illnesses, the 'wish' children, actually stay when on their once in a lifetime trip to Disney. Give Kids The World provides free tickets, meals, transportation, gifts, and more for the child and their family. Right now GKTW is in the middle of a major expansion because, sadly, the need for their services is forecast to double over the next ten years.

The Disney fan community, through groups like Disney Cast Members, the NFFC, Kevin Yee, and Magical Mountain, has united to try and raise enough money to build one of the new villas. So far they've raised $25,000 toward the goal, but need to raise twice that much to build the villa. If you donate to GKTW mention that you're part of the Disney Fan group and your money will go to that villa to. You can also visit MagicalMountain's current campaign at http://www.firstgiving.com/magicalmountain or you can start your own fundraiser at http://www.firstgiving.com/gktw

Thanks for reading. I really feel there is a close affinity between the children with life-threatening illnesses who wish to stay at Give Kids The World and Disney fans who can live that dream whenever they want. So please help make a difference in a child's life today.

Thank you for the information. And yes, Give Kids The World certainly would be a worthwhile organization. To me, any organization that grants these kids their wishes deserves our support, especially when we all share the same love for Disney.

I hope everyone reading this blog can contribute whatever they can.
