WDW Picture of the Day

This is an older photo. This is Minnie at Liberty Tree Tavern, back when they had character meals for dinner. All the characters, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip 'n Dale, and except for Pluto, were all wearing colonial garbs. It was a lot of fun!

WDW Picture of the Day

Entrance to Spaceship  Earth at Epcot.

So, if you've been a long-time WDW fan, did you ever remember Spaceship  Earth having this long of a line LATE in the day? Unfortunately, this is a direct consequence of the Fastpass+. Attractions that normally do not have a long line late in the day are now getting these long lines. And fastpass lines that used to move fast are now crawling. In fact, in some cases, there's a line trying to get into the fastpass line! See Kilimanjaro Safari!

MK To Get Jungle Cruise-Themed Restaurant

Just announced at the current D23 event, The Magic Kingdom will open later this year the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen restaurant.

Jungle Cruise skippers will staff the restaurant, so expect some eye-rolling puns on the menu.

Disney says the Canteen will have several dining rooms, such as crew mess hall and a meeting room of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers.

You'd be forgiven if that brought Pleasure Island's now-defunct Adventurers Club to mind.

Ah, so THAT'S where they'll bring back the Adventurers Club! Kungaloosh!!

Coming Disney Animation movies

Three upcoming DA movies were previewed at the D23 Expo. Zootopia is about a bunny policewoman trying to solve a missing mammal case with help from a sly fox. The scene at the DMV where they try to trace a license number is a comedy classic. Moana is about a young Samoan girl trying to revive the ancient ways of ocean exploration. Gigantic is a reworked Jack and the Beanstalk. Based on the sneak previews, Zootopia is a must see, Moana is probably worth seeing, and Gigantic is iffy.

D23 Expo Disney Animation releases

Disney Animation upcoming releases include Zootopia, Gigantic and Muana. IMHO Zootopia looks most interesting, a story set in a city of animals designed by animals. Pixar releases include The Good Dinosaur, Finding Dory, Coco and Toy Story 4. There will also be a short feature titled Riley's First Date, to be included with digital media. That one looks very funny. Coco might be a little thin, but time will tell.

An Enviromentally-Friendly Theme for Epcot's "Food and Wine Festival"

So I've been to Epcot's Food and Wine Festival a few times. Had fun, but I think they often miss things. I'm sure they have to cater to the "average tourist" and consider the kind of food, offerings, and activities that will appeal to the largest audience.

Still, I think they are missing a tremendous opportunity to help address an important environmental issues here in the US, and possibly elsewhere. They should have a theme, or have an introduction to get people to eat invasive species and animals. Animals such as the Asian carp, snake head fish, nutria, etc. are destroying the ecosystem where they were introduced to and overpowering the native species. Yet, these animals are edible, provides a viable source of protein, and can be delicious! Andrew Zimmern on his TV show has shown these animals being cooked and eaten, and became surprisingly delectable.

People, especially in the US, often have an "Ewwwww" factor either due to its name (snake head) or due to how an animal looks like. They need to get over that. The Food and Wine Festival can help to overcome the stigma with these animals. Show them that these are really good food, and by eating them, people are also helping to get rid of them from where they shouldn't be. Invite someone like Andrew Zimmern, who should draw a large crowd, to get people to try and taste these things.

Human beings have been known to push a specie to the brink of extinction from over hunting. Why  can't we do the same to an invasive specie? Come on, Disney! You can do something quite unique and help the environment at the same time. It's a win-win situation. Even I would consider coming be to F&W Festival  if you do this one.

Why Inside Out Is Slightly Different In Japan

Here's an article on the fact that Inside-Out is slightly different in Japan, and why.

In the original version, the 11-year-old protagonist hates broccoli, which has the nerve to show up on a slice of pizza in her new hometown of San Francisco. (That sight gag is in the trailer, below.) But in the Japanese version of Inside Out, the detested vegetable is green pepper slices — a much more conventional pizza topping in the U.S.

I didn't know that green bell pepper grosses out the average Japanese!
