Ticket prices and annual passes

Following up on Zz's post about raised ticket prices, DIS News has this post showing the price of all WDW tickets and possible discounts.  There's an interesting thing in the myriad prices, namely that the price of a new annual pass is about the same as two 7-day park tickets, of the 1 park per day variety, or about the same as two discounted 7-day park hopper tickets.  Could it be that Disney is quietly making it less attractive to buy a pass?  It used to be that getting an annual pass was a good idea if you were planning on making at least 2 trips per year to WDW.  Now it's not so obvious.  The annual pass gives you a discount on many things so maybe Disney is adjusting prices so fewer people will buy passes and fewer people will be getting those discounts. Disney does a lot of research on who is going to WDW, how long they are staying, and whether they bought tickets or have passes.  They probably have a good idea of what effect raising prices will have.
