The scenes previewed involved Scrooge's scoffing at his yuletide-favoring nephew (Colin Firth) and cowering in his confrontation with Jacob Marley (Gary Oldman), whose jaw is literally dropping over his old partner's doomed path. Zemeckis explained that a linen strap used to be tied around a corpse's head to keep the mouth closed, but this ghost's band has come loose, leading to ghastly (and funny) sight gags.

Viewers were wowed. Bob Tourtellotte, entertainment editor for Reuters, says the film was "heads and tails above what Zemeckis had done before in terms of photo realism. It's not perfectly real, but it's getting there."
There's a lot of movies out of Disney to look forward to during the next 12 months. I can't wait!
