No More Pirates and Princess Party

Rumors running around all over the web is that Disney has already a plan in place after the first of the year to cut back on spending and costs. This includes a layoff of some cast members, cut back on operating hours, and no more Pirates and Princess party for the foreseeable future. A quick glance today at the WDW webpage for the Magic Kingdom reveals that the link to Pirates and Princess party is completely gone. So there may be some truth to the rumor here.

That's too bad, but that's expected with the anticipated decline in attendance for next year. It's one of those things where they're just going to try to hang on until the economy recovers. Coincidentally, after our upcoming December trip, for the first time in a long while, we have no solid plans on when we will be back at WDW, which is sad. I'm sure we'll make a trip some time during the year, but it is highly unusual for us not to have at least a tentative plan on our next trip.

Hrm. I thought those parties were big money-makers for WDW. In fact I think the Princess and Pirate party is the one for which I see the most commercials. Maybe that's because it doesn't gross what they would like...
