Disney Tosses Toons Topper

Looks like the creative team of John Lasseter and Ed Catmull can certainly flex its muscle. The president of the DisneyToons direct-to-DVD operations has lost her job over the continuing problems with The Tinkerbell Movie.

Multiple sources also said that Morrill, who had headed DisneyToons since its inception in 1994, has repeatedly clashed with Pixar Animation toppers John Lasseter and Ed Catmull over creative differences on "Tinkerbell" following Disney's puchase of Pixar early last year.

For many avid Disney fans, these direct-to-video animations have been, on average, horrendously bad and diluted the Disney brand. So it will be interesting to see if there's any change in this operation and quality of its product.

Edit: Ooooh.. in fact, in another news report, it appears that this line of production might be ending. Reports has appeared that John Lasseter has been able to convince Bob Iger to end this direct-to-DVD profitable creative wasteland after the pipeline is empty.

Zz.
