More Pictures From "Public Enemies"

I posted earlier a report and a set of pictures of the shooting of "Public Enemies" that stared Johnny Depp right in my neighborhood (or to be precise, just in the yard right next to where I live). The crew is now gone, and most of the props and stuff are almost cleared out. They're still working on tearing down the shanty town on the yard underneath the elevated tracks, but other than a few trailers here and there, they are almost gone. Newport Ave. also is back to having regular parking after almost a week of no parking (which is awful for this neighborhood where parking is difficult in the first place).

Anyway, the day after they were done, we managed to snap more pictures before they took everything down or haul things away. I'm still impressed by what they have done and set up. It is also taking them quite a while to put things back to what they were (street lights, bicycle racks, etc.). The shanty town is mostly gone now, except for a few pieces that have yet to be removed. But when it was all up, it certainly looked at its grungy best.

But still, what I was most impressed with are the vintage cars. We heard rumors that they were using around 40 different vintage vehicles for this shoot at some point or another. I can believe that. They looked impressive, and as you can tell from the pictures, there were A LOT OF THEM.

I did not notice this white vehicle on the first night of the shoot. But it was present on the second night when they were shooting further down the street.

I'm sure the movie didn't get any of the Cubs banner that's in the window of that building. :)

I definitely like the way these vehicles look on the cobbled street. There's something "charming" about the view.

Zz.
