10% Off Merchandise at WDW with Disney Visa Card

Thanks to Anne for bringing this piece of information. It appears that from the All Ears Newsletter, there is unpublished (yet) benefit to the Disney Rewards Visa card:

The 10 percent Disney Visa discount that has only been offered to Disney Visa cardholders at World of Disney (with a minimum $50 purchase) is now available at all locations that sell Disney merchandise on property. This includes theme parks and resorts. You must make a minimum $50 purchase and you must pay with your Disney Visa card.

A couple of readers added important comments to this news:

Filipa Douma says: The discount is valid in all Disney stores that sell Disney merchandise on property. However, the guest must indicate that they want to make use of the discount. Cast members are not allowed to automatically apply the discount... Keep this in mind when you go up to the register to pay.

Mary Ann Devine writes: When I was at Walt Disney World in July, we just had to show the Disney Visa card to get the 10 percent off. We were able to pay cash. Just ask the cast member.

So one needs to not only spend at least $50 (a trivial thing) but must also ask for the discount even when paying with the Disney Visa card.

There appears to be no official announcement of this anywhere yet. So consider this to still be a rumor, and even the possibility of having conflicting reports (such as being able to get the 10% discount simply by showing the Disney Visa card but not using it).

If anyone has gotten this discount, I'd like to hear about it.

Zz.
