Disney Announces Major Expansions to It's US Theme Parks

Here are more news coverage of the announcement reported by Patti yesterday from the D23 Expo.

Reuters is reporting the major expansion to Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom. We have a more official detail that the expansion will come at the expense of Toon Town.

Disney Imagineers, who design rides and attractions, said the Toon Town attraction would be dismantled and its popular Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse houses relocated to another section of Walt Disney World.

LA Times has a more in-depth coverage of the current plans for California Adventure, including the new Cars Land and upgrading Star Tours.

The biggest attraction in Cars Land will be Radiator Springs Racers. With rock work built on a scale similar to the Expedition Everest attraction, the ride will sprawl over six acres and take visitors on a road trip through the caverns and past the waterfall and other scenery depicted in the movie to join the film's characters, including the Goofy-like character Mater, on a mischievous "tractor-tipping" exercise. The ride culminates with a race through Carburetor Canyon and Ornament Valley. A scale model of Cars Land is on display at the convention center in Anaheim.

OK then, let's get on with it.

Zz.
